alia, to: and consolidate the bonds of fraternity and solidarity among the Member States; and protect the common interests and support the legitimate causes of the Member States and coordinate and unify the efforts of the Member States in view of the challenges faced by the Islamic world in particular and the international community in general; the right of self-determination and non-interference in the domestic affairs and to respect sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of each Member State; active participation of the Member States in the global political, economic and social decision-making processes to secure their common interests; its support for the rights of peoples as stipulated in the UN Charter and international law; intra-Islamic economic and trade cooperation; in order to achieve economic integration leading to the establishment of an Islamic Common Market; efforts to achieve sustainable and comprehensive human development and economic well-being in Member States; and defend the true image of Islam, to combat defamation of Islam and encourage dialogue among civilizations and religions; and develop science and technology and encourage research and cooperation among Member States in these fields; order to realize these objectives, Member States shall act, inter alia, in accordance with the following principles: Member States commit themselves to the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter; States are sovereign, independent and equal in rights and obligations; Member States shall settle their disputes through peaceful means and refrain from use or threat of use of force in their relations; Member States undertake to respect national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of other Member States and shall refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of others; States shall uphold and promote, at the national and international levels, good governance, democracy, human rights and fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law.Organization is composed of the following main bodies: Islamic Summit, composed of Kings and Heads of State and Government of Member States, is the supreme authority of the Organization.
