native town is Donetsk. Now the population of my town is over one million people. Such branches of industry as building metallurgy and coal are highly developed there. There are a lot of industrial enterprises in Donetsk. Coal industry is the leading branch of industry in my town. There are 24 mines here and the largest among them are Oktyabrskaya and Trudovskaya. Donetsk is an important scientific and cultural centre. Specialists in different professions are being trained at a number of institutes and at Donetsk National University, the centre of Donetsk we can see main historical sights of Donetsk. They are the Memorial Complex of the Civil War, some hotels, in one of which was Volodymyr Mayakovsky. By the by, in the place of Komsomolsky cinema there was an old church and the komsomol members destroyed it during one night in order to build the cinema here. And now there are some projects to build another church in this place. In the centre of Donetsk there are two wonders of architecture. They are Drama Theatre and Opera House. The monument to Taras Shevchenko was presented by Canadian Ukrainians of the town of Ontario.
