MP assessment of probable liability and reasons:
SGT Sychevskyi Oleksandr drove the truck (Renault UNAMSIL 572) to Kailahun in performance of official duties from 08 Dec to 13 Dec 2003. On 11 Dec 2003, at approximately 17.25, he was traveling on the road from Daru to Kailahun (about 10 km to Kailahun) to deliver 5000 L of Diesel. At one of the very difficult parts of the road the vehicle was tossed to the right where there was a log which struck the right side of the truck s cabin near the windshield. As a result the truck s windshield was broken and the rear right mudguard and rear bumper were damaged. Capt Mizerniuk made a decision to continue movement because there were not any people injuries; any damages to other vehicles; any communications equipment; as well as any other vehicles on the road. He reported the accident to the nearest UN police in Kailahun at 21.15 on 11 Dec 2003.
